Bee's play really well, lose to Stow

The Medina Bee's lost in straight sets 3-0 (16-25, 17-25, 16-25) to Stow tonight in a match that was much closer than the score indicated.  The Bee's  continued to show improvement and had moments of outstanding play tonight.

Senior Derek Walker led all scores were 6 points (4 kills & 2 blocks) sophomore Ray Cipro added 3 points (2 kills & 1 block) freshman Ellis Johanson added 3 and senior Cole Febus added 3. Febus had 17 made serves and 2 aces! He also had numerous serve receives and digs to extend play.

The JV squad also lost  straight sets 2–0 (17-25, 22-25) they also showed a huge improvement  Freshman Drew Lane had a kill & an ace, Murari Bhimavarapu had a kill so did Marko Kuhar.

Bee's get their first win

The Medina Bees Men's Volleyball team won their first match of the 2017 season with a close win over St. Vincent St. Mary at the Polar Bear Tournament.

The Bees also played Stow and Westerville, losing in straights sets 0-2 to each team.

With the win over St. v their records improves to 1-4.

Wednesday March 15, 2017 Coach Marcy Nicolae announced the 2017 Varsity & Junior Varsity squads. 

This years club features 15 new players! Please check out the roster page for details!

The season opens with a scrimmage vs. Brunswick March 17, 2017 @ 6:00 pm. The match will be held at Medina High School.

Bee's win 1st ever play-off match!

The Medina Men's Vollleyball team beat Brunswick tonight for their first ever play-off win.

The Bee's beat the Bluedevils 3-0 in straight sets to advance to the regional finals. The Bee's won 25-18, 25-21 & 27-25 to advance in the bracket.

Andrew Johnson led all scorers with 18 points (11 kills, 6 blocks & 1 ace) Tom Supan added 17 points (10 kills, 3 blocks & 4 aces) Anthony Supan had 6 points (3 kills, 2 blocks and 1 ace) and Christian Bonnell had  27 assists, 5 points & 17 made serves tonight. 

Next up for the Bee's, Friday May 20 5:00 pm vs the winner of Stow/St. Ignatius at Jackson High School.

Bee's beat Brunswick!

The Medina Men's Volleyball team beat archrival Brunswick 3 to 1 Thursday evening to spoil the Blue Devil's Senior night.

The Bee's beat Brunswick 16-25, 25-20, 25-19 & 25-22

After welcoming and honoring their senior athletes, the Brunswick Blue Blue Devils continued their senior night celebration by taking set one from the Bees. Brunswick got off to an early lead and set two, as well. Then, the bees found their stride and took the remaining three sets from Brunswick. 

We are without stats for this match, but our contributing writers, aka the parents , report that this was a true team effort. Congratulations the Medina men's volleyball and coach Marci Nicholae as they wrap up their 2016 season. 

The JV Bee's lost 0-2 Thursday night. They lost 26-28 & 20-25. 

Next up for the Bee's, regional playoffs! 5:00 pm Tuesday May 17 at Jackson High School against n on other that the Brunsiwck Blue Devils!

Medina coasts past Hudson

The Medina Men's Volleyball team beat the Hudson Explorers 3-0 Tuesday night

The Bees beat Hudson in straight sets 25-15, 25-20, 25-17.

The usual cast of characters contributed to tonights win, Andrew Johnson had 12 points, Thomas Supan had 11, Anthony Supan added 7 Cole Febus had 5. Christian Bonnell had 20 assists. Derek Walker continued his improvement with 4 points. 

The JV Bees beat Hudson 2-1, 25-14, 25-27, 25-9.

Cade Fullerton had numerous digs to keep the ball alive, Gabe Crapanzano had his first ace of the season in the win.

Next up for the Bees, Brunswick! Away Thursday May 12, to try to ruin their senior night.

Jackson beats Medina!

The Medina Men's Volleyball club lost to the Jackson Polar Bears 0-3 Saturday.

The Bee's lost in straight sets 13-25, 32-34, 20-25. Their record drops to 12-7with the loss.

The Bee's played well with a much better defensive effort the recent outings. They  Came back strong for a slow start in set one to extend set 2 to extra points. However the the deciding set the Bees just couldn't get a break. 

Andrew Johnson led all scoreres with 13 points, Thomas Supan added 9, Cole Febus had 5 points. Christian Bonnell had 25 assists along with 2 points. Derek Walker added 3 points too.

The Bee's JV team also lost today, 0-2 in straight sets. They lost 20-25 & 21-25

Ethan Flynn led all scoreres with 4 points (3 kills & 1 Ace) way to go Ethan! Jason Petri added 2 points and Gus Wilson had 1 point in the loss. 

Next up for the Bee's Hudson Tuesday May 10 away!

Bees lose to St. Ignatius

The Medina Bee's Men's Volleyball team lost to the St. Ignatius Wildcats 3-0 tonight

The Bee's lost in straight sets 8-25, 19-25, 13-25 to the team ranked number 5 in the state. 

The Bee's struggled to return the agrressive Wildcat serves. The lack of serve return hurt their ability to attack. The Bee's attack was repeatedly deflected a dug out by their outstanding defensive play. 

Thomas Supan led all scorers with 8 points, Andrew Johnson added 4. 

The Bee's JV team also lost tonight 2-1. 25-18, 21-25, 18-25

Jason Petri & Etah Flynn led scorers with 3 points each.

Next up for the Bee's, Jackson Polar Bears at Jackson Saturday May 7.

Bee's survive scare @ Kent!

The Medina Bee's Mens Volleyball team beat the host Kent Roughriders 3-2 Wednesday night.

The Bee's beat Kent 21-25, 20-25, 25-21, 25-12, 15-2 to escape with their 12th win of the season.

The Bee's stumbled early losing sets 1 & 2, then found their footing and came on strong to put the match away. Considerably better passing in sets 3-5 certainly helped. Also, numerous second effort plays to keep the ball alive helped. Graydon Flynn had several keys second effort plays tonight. Will Hastings & Cole Febus had their share too.

Andrew Johnson led all scorers with 27 points (23 kills, 3 blocks & 1 ace) Tom Supan added 21 (15 Kills, 3 blocks & 3 aces) while Anthony Supan had 9 (7 kills & 2 aces) Cole Febus added 7. Christian Bonnell  had 50 assists and 3 kills.

This Bee JV team beat Kent 2-0 tonight as well.

The JV Bee's won 25-10, 26-24 to start the night.

Strong play from Gus Wilson, 6 points (1 kill & 5 aces) and Cade Fullerton 4 points (3 kills & 1 ace) and Ethan Flynn with 4 points (1 ace & 3 kills)

Next up for the Bee's Thursday night May 4 vs. St Ignatius at Medina!

Bees sweep Stow!

The Medina Men's Volleyball team beat arch rival Stow Bulldogs in straight sets Tuesday night.

The Bees swept Stow 25-21, 25-22 & 25-19 for a Senior Night win. 

Tonight we honored 6 seniors, Christian Bonnell, Graydon Flynn, William Hastings, Alize Hines, Andrew Johnson & Anthony Supan. All 6 will be missed next season and we wish them luck in the next stage of their lives. 

In an emotional match tonight, the Bees really came together to play perhaps their best match of the season. The fact that it came on Senior Night and against arch rival Stow only made it sweeter. Andrew Johnson led all scorers with 22 (!!) points, Thomas Supan added 13 points and Anthony Supan had 8 points. Christian Bonnell had 38 assists. 

Next up for the Bees, Kent Roosevelt away Wednesday night.
